Felling 100+ Year Old Declining Oaks

If I had to guess, these Red Oaks were declining from soil compaction. They were in an area that is used as a driveway and over the years the soil has gotten very hard. This hinders the trees ability to properly get resources. A few years ago we got a lot of rain. This rain gave Anthracnose an oppertunity to run rampant. With the trees not taking in resources properly, it made it harder to combat the Anthracnose. The trees slowly started to show signs of decline and eventually started to shed large limbs and cause damage to the house. these trees quickly became candidates for removal. We did find o local mill in Berryville, VA that came and got the wood. At least these majestic Oaks will not go to complete waste.
